- QUICK TAKE:
- Animated Comedy: A suburban family must contend with the repercussions of the self-centered father illegally dumping toxic waste into the local lake and the EPA's reaction to that.
She doesn't have the same worries about his younger sister, Lisa (voice of YEARDLEY SMITH), a smart and sensitive girl who's obsessed with helping the environment, a point she shares with Irish newcomer Colin (voice of TRESS MacNEILLE). Toddler Maggie is too young to cause too many headaches, which usually also holds true for Homer's dad, Grampa (voice of DAN CASTELLANETA), although he's recently had a religious experience at church that has Marge trying to decipher his mysterious mutterings.
Little do they know that it has to do with the coming of environmental disaster in their town, caused, as to be expected, by Homer. In a hurry to dispose of pig and human waste, he breaks the law by dumping it into the local lake, thus creating a mutant creature that immediately draws the attention of EPA head honcho, Russ Cargill (voice of ALBERT BROOKS).
He convinces President Arnold Schwarzenegger (voice of HARRY SHEARER) that they must do something, and that turns out to be covering Springfield in a huge, transparent dome. That worries the likes of the ever-optimistic Ned Flanders (voice of HARRY SHEARER) who lives next door, but only serves to irritate barkeep Moe (voice of HANK AZARIA) and others who eventually turn on Homer, thus forcing the family to flee.
With the lives of those still stuck in Springfield -- including Bart's friend Milhouse (voice of PAMELA HAYDEN), Chief of Police Wiggum (voice of HANK AZARIA), local hick Cletus (voice of HANK AZARIA), town drunk Barney (voice of DAN CASTELLANETA), TV personality Krusty the Clown (voice of DAN CASTELLANETA) and many others -- at stake, Homer and his family must decide what to do to help.
- WILL KIDS WANT TO SEE IT?
- Probably, especially if they're fans of the TV series.
- WHY THE MPAA RATED IT: PG-13
- For irreverent humor throughout.
- CAST AS ROLE MODELS:
Then read OUR TAKE of this film.
(Note: The 'Our Take' review of this title examines the film's artistic merits and does not take into account any of the possibly objectionable material listed below).
A cartoon boy is seen skateboarding fully nude (with his genitalia cleverly blocked by foreground objects, except for a few moments where they're seen), while two male cops briefly kiss and then rush together into a motel room. Some large busted women are seen (clothed), and some forest animals help a married couple undress to have sex (the latter occurs off camera, but the animals react in shock to what they see).
Comedy based violence includes several presumed deaths, various characters being hit, struck or otherwise injured in various ways, including slapstick style material. Some of that might be unsettling for the very youngest of kids, while that and other behavior may be enticing (and potentially dangerous in certain circumstances) for some kids to imitate.
Various characters have varying degrees of bad attitudes (all played for comedy), while drinking, smoking and brief drug use (pot) are present. Crude humor occurs, as does some tense family material.
If you're still concerned about the film and its appropriateness for yourself or anyone else in your home who may be interested in seeing it, we suggest that you take a closer look at our detailed listings for more specific information regarding the film's content.

- Cargill orders that Springfield have a dome placed over it (thus trapping its residents) and then be bombed (it's first removed from all maps) and replaced with a new Grand Canyon (a crater hole).
- Some viewers might not like various digs at the Bush administration (such as President Schwarzenegger saying he was elected to lead, not read; the head of the EPA also being financially connected to the dome he orders placed over Springfield; the government eavesdropping on its citizens, etc.). On the other side, the film also makes fun of the Al Gore documentary 'An Inconvenient Truth,' mocking it with a boring presentation Lisa has done called 'An Irritating Truth.'
- Lisa punches Bart to the ground after the latter makes fun of her having a boyfriend.
- Homer mentions that Alaska is a place where you can't be too fat or too drunk.

They end up flying over a gorge, but come up short and fall into the abyss, with Bart using his slingshot to grab a tree branch and fling them back up to safety. - Homer sings a modified version of the old 'Spider-Man' song, substituting lyrics about his new pig (and holds up the animal so that it 'walks' across the ceiling upside down -- like a spider would). - Homer puts super glue on his hands to try to climb the outside of the huge dome, but first says he'll show Springfield he has some 'cajones.' He then grabs his clothed crotch, but his glue-covered hand gets stuck there (temporarily).
- A robotic bomb diffuser becomes so panicky about cutting the right wire that it grabs a cop's gun and shoots itself in the head.
- A nerdy kid gets up the courage to hit his two tormentors with a pole (accidentally hitting a bystander in the process), and is surprised by how good that violence felt.

- About Lisa going door to door extolling the environment, Milhouse dreamily tells her she can canvas him as long as she likes.
- Homer dares Bart to ride his skateboard through town naked. The boy complains that girls might see his 'doodle,' but he does it anyway. As he zips along we see him fully nude (bare butt and full body, but no genital view yet). Seeing him that way, a young boy suddenly exclaims, 'I like men now.' Bart then passes various foreground objects that block just his crotch area in passing (played the same as in the Austin Powers films or the old Benny Hill TV show). However, we do briefly see a view of just his genitals (penis and scrotum) as he passes by something that blocks all but that part of his body. He ends up flying through the air and lands on the diner window, with Ned holding a French fry that just so happens to end up where the boy's penis is (thus covering it). During that, Ned is talking to his kids about religion, but he ends up mistakenly saying, 'Praise the penis' (upon the above view), prompting his boys to repeat that. Bart is then arrested and cuffed backwards to something, with others gawking or laughing at him (and a blade of grass in the foreground blocks a view of his bare crotch).. Homer eventually shows up with his clothes, sans any pants, thus causing Bart more embarrassment as he pulls down his shirt as far as possible.

- Marge thinks some cops have arrived to catch her, but the two men rush by, quickly kiss, and then rush into a motel room.
- When the power goes out in Moe's bar and then comes back on, all of his bottles of booze are gone. He then turns out the lights (asking for the liquor to be returned), but when he turns them back on, the bar counter is gone and he's in just his boxers.
- In a spoof of sorts on Snow White, various forest animals help disrobe Homer and Marge for their love making session. We see Homer shirtless and Marge in a small nightie, and then the shocked look of the animals as they watch what occurs next (we don't see any sexual activity).
- Looking for his epiphany to occur, Homer thinks this might be it: 'More than two shakes and you're playing with yourself' (a comment about shaking one's penis after urinating).
- Some viewers might take Homer's question of 'Why does everything I whip leave me?' (said about sled dogs he had been whipping to make them pull his sled) as a double entendre.
- A large-busted mystical woman uses her clothed chest to point the direction for Homer (we even see the large shadow it casts).

- Homer is self-centered and only looking out for himself until the end of the film.
- The environment and pollution.
- A fair carny says his wives are going to kill him (after losing his truck in a contest), but we then see that they're conjoined twins.
- NSA officials eavesdrop on ordinary citizens' conversations.
- Bart becomes progressively disappointed that Homer is his dad, and wishes that Ned were that person.
- All of the following is played for comedy.
- Itchy the mouse repeatedly stabs Scratchy the cat with a flagpole and then bashes him over the head with it, breaking his spacesuit helmet, thus depressurizing the latter, causing one of his eyeballs to pop out to exaggerated size. Once President, Itchy launches a barrage of nuclear missiles at Scratchy who's stuck on the moon. The cat ends up swallowing all but the last one that causes him to explode in a nuclear explosion.
- Townspeople throw items at a performing rock band, with one piece going through the bass drum and presumably hitting the drummer in the crotch. Later, other male characters are also hit in the clothed crotch (in other ways).

- In a flashback and against Bart's better judgment, Homer uses a bug zapper to do his 'fishing.' He drops it in the lake, the electrical current runs, and many fish float up to the surface. Homer is then shocked when he grabs a dead fish, as well as when he bites into it.
- A mechanical riser suddenly thrusts upward, crashing Lisa (who's standing on its platform) through the ceiling (we hear, but don't see the impact).
- We see some mob guys drag a wrapped and presumably dead body down to the lake to throw it in, but they're stopped (although only for illegal dumping).
- A squirrel is chased into the now toxic lake and comes out as a mutated monster, with many eyes. We then see its multi-eyed POV of Bart poking and thus popping some of its many eyes.
- As a dome is placed over Springfield, a boy on a seesaw is blasted through the air (and he smacks against the inside of the dome), while a man can't decide to stay inside or go out and is thus crushed by the dome edge. Later, a flock of migrating swallows slams into the dome.
- Police officers fire handguns and automatic weapons at the inside of the dome, but the bullets ricochet and strike them (injuring, but not killing them, sans blood).
- As the Simpsons scamper across a plank between their home and Ned's, Homer's pig moves one edge, causing them to fall to the ground, but miss the arrows fired at them by angry vigilantes. We then see their house on fire (caused by the vigilantes).
- We see that vigilantes have hung nooses for all of the Simpsons, but the family uses them to escape up into a tree house (except for Homer who gets his head and arm stuck in one). Something is aimed at Homer's butt, and a circular saw is thrown and hits him on the head. The family then escapes via Maggie's sandbox as the mob tries to pull down the tree, but Homer gets stuck in the sand, allowing others to claw and scrape away at his head (leaving marks), a small arrow to be fired into it, and then the cops fire their handguns down into the sand right after Homer disappears.
- Lisa punches Bart to the ground after the latter makes fun of her having a boyfriend.
- Cargill throws binoculars that ricochet off something and hit him.
- To try to win a truck, Homer agrees to try to ride a motorcycle in a 360-degree vertical loop inside a steel cage (the Circle of Death). He tries it twice, but falls both times from the apex down to the bottom of the cage, with the bike landing on him (but is successful the third time).

- Homer clotheslines himself on a tree branch.
- Homer and Bart ride a motorcycle up an immense dome covering Springfield, hoping to throw a bomb through the tiny opening at the top before the explosive detonates. The Simpsons Skateboarding is an extreme sportsvideo game based on the animatedsitcomThe Simpsons. It was released for the PlayStation 2 in North America on 12 November 2002 and Europe on 6 December 2002. The game was developed by The Code Monkeys and published by Fox Interactive and Electronic Arts. The story and dialogue were written by writers from The Simpsons, with all character voices supplied by the cast.
The game was widely panned by critics and is considered one of the worst video games of all time.
Gameplay[edit]
Springfield has been converted into a skate park for the Annual Skate Tour, full with skate-able objects and landmarks from the television series. Players are able to choose one of the nine characters available to compete for the grand prize. All of the characters' voices were recorded by the actual voice actors from The Simpsons. Each character has over forty unique moves. Players can test their skills in either a two-player head-to-head skate off, or in one of the fast and furious modes: Freeskate, Skate Fest, Trick Contest, and a game of skateboard H-O-R-S-E, unlocking additional characters, locations, and skateboards. Players can also choose to learn all the skateboard moves and tricks before they begin the actual game in the Skillz School mode.[1]
Development[edit]
The Simpsons Skateboarding was developed by The Code Monkeys and published by Electronic Arts (EA) under license from Fox Interactive. Before EA made an official announcement about The Simpsons Skateboarding, an advertisement for the game was featured on the back page of the instruction manual for The Simpsons: Road Rage, and on in-game billboards, which was released in 2001. There were no mention of a console in the advertisement and no gameplay details were revealed. In November 2001, EA representatives said they were not ready to comment on the product.[2] On 16 May 2002, a few days before the E3 Media and Business Summit, they released the first information about the game.[3] All of the characters' voices were recorded by the actual voice actors from The Simpsons.[1][4]

The Simpsons Skateboarding received 'unfavorable' reviews according to the review aggregation website Metacritic.[5] It was criticized for its chunky graphics, poorly recorded sound and music, lack of skateboarding tricks, and poor controls whilst the in-game dialogue were mixed.
Andrew Reiner of Game Informer said: 'Never before have I seen a developer put forth such an effort to secure the Worst Game of the Year award. I'll even go as far to say that this may very well be the worst PlayStation 2 game on the market.'[9] Kevin Murphy of GameSpy said that 'The Simpsons Skateboarding should be a case study in bad game design.'[11]
